HISTORY OF

DONALD HOLM CONSTRUCTION

IN DULUTH, MN

Holm Construction, unofficially established in 1954 and later officially incorporated as Donald Holm Construction Co., Inc. in 1972, has served the Duluth Minnesota area for more than 60 years. Donald Holm actually began his career in the 1940s working for his grandfather, Otto Holm, a partner with Klippen and Holm Construction Company. While he hammered nails and learned the construction trade, his grandfather instilled the core values that remain at the heart of the company today: family, honesty, integrity, and the value of a job done right.

As business grew quickly in the Duluth Area, Donald Holm landed one of its first major jobs -- the Chester Bowl Recreation Center Chalet.

In 1985, Don sold his company to his three sons Dean, Duane, and Dan, marking the fourth generation in the family business. As the times change, the Holm core values remain. Each brother supervises their projects from the bidding process through final completion to ensure their workmanship achieves the highest possible quality. Their personal hands-on approach has earned them the position as one the area’s leading general contractors.
